Oil for the Oil Companies

I have blogged on this before, but I am going to address this again. Why would the oil companies want to drill for oil in Alaska or anywhere else. The gas prices are through the roof and will go higher. We are looking at $4 or more a gallon this summer, and the profits for Gas companies are going higher. So what will happen if they do start drilling more, or refining more crude oil, which by the way, they are cutting back on refining more oil? Well there would be more fuel on the market, and prices would go down. Good for us, but not for them!

Do you really think they want the prices to go down? Thats just silly, they want more money. this whole thing on the Oil Companies wanting to drill, but the mean old congress is not letting them is just a smoke screen. They come out looking like the good guy's and push the blame on congress. In the mean time they give the impression they put some money into Alternative Energy, but really why would they want to do this. Even Rush Limbaugh, and Shawn Hannitty, and locally Jason Lewis have all echoed that the Oil Companies would be putting them selves out of business. So again, they look like good guys, but really this is PR ploy!

Check out the article http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews/idUSN0746822120080407 from Reuters that outlines the the slow in refinement of oil due to maintainance. The fact is, oil is a commodity, jsut like corn or orange juice. The problem is that I need gas, I can go without corn or orange juice. Like many of us we are choosing fuel over movies, and dinners out and such. The only way to get out of this is to cut back. I am in a postion with my job to be able to work from home for a couple of days a week. If gas prices go up to $4 a gallon, I will try to work from home more. I will walk more, I will not go to movies or out to dinner and stay home or to the gym. This will hurt them, and that is the only thing that will.

To be honest, we are screwed, we are so dependent on oil and gas that we are hard pressed to change our ways. Just so you know, the oil companies are doing whats best for them, and there company. They are the bad guys, I just take issue with them trying to snow the public that it's not there fault.

You think food cost allot now, this will make it even worse. The problem is that we still cut gas with ethanol so this will push up the price of fuel. Also, again this is a commodity and will affect other commodity prices. We are going to have a long summer of high prices, and when winter hits, we are in big trouble with fuel oil prices. I live in Minnesota, I need to heat my house, I guess I can stop eating and not go out. That will really help the economy.
